The final Barbados Rally Club event got under way in the east of the island on Saturday evening of November 24th, 2018 with a full complement of Speed Team drivers.
Both Roger and Rhett were out for the first time since Sol Rally Barbados. Unfortunately for Roger, things came to an end quickly as an engine issue ended his rally on Special Stage 1.
For Rhett, things were happening much slower than usual. With the BMW M3 undergoing its rebuild, he took advantage of the 'arrive and drive' Bimmacup car rental package offered by Stuart White of Guava Tech. In what Rhett described as a stress free bit of rallying, he was able to take up the role of crowd pleaser as he let the back of the car hang out a bit more, albeit a bit slower and with less power but in air condition.
Things were much more hectic for Barry. With crucial championship points at stake and stiff competition expected from Dane Skeete, he and stand in navigator Andrew Skeete had it all to play for. Dane had things going his way as he took a lead of just over 3 seconds into the dinner halt. However, after the halt a steering failure saw Dane crash out, which meant Barry had taken the lead of the 2WD. Afterwards, Barry mentioned how he had taken a measured approach with a strong championship finish hanging in the balance. He was happy to make it to the end of the event first in class, fastest 2WD and third overall to bring the season to an end.
