Chefette Restaurants continues to give support to the children of the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic school. Recently, the Company presented a total of $17,000. This donation represents the yearly contribution to the scholarship fund which provides financial assistance to selected children of the School who are in dire need of help. Since 1987, Chefette and its associate companies have been making yearly contributions to this scholarship fund.
The Principal Ms. Pauline Dempsey, as well as staff and students, warmly welcomed representatives from the local Restaurant Chain during a visit to the Jemmott’s Lane institution and expressed much appreciation for both the monetary and other donations made to the school over the years.
On receiving the cheque, Principal, Sis Pauline expressed gratitude and said “On behalf of The Board of Governors and the Beneficiaries of the Scholarship Donation, I wish to thank Chefette and its supporting companies, for the generous donation.” She went on to say part of the funds received will be used to finance the reading programme called “Toe by Toe” which is an individual programme that involves one to one sessions with an adult Each pupil has their own manual and though the journey using the programme can take several years, at the end of that time, most pupils will be able to read, and break down words they are unsure of. She went on to say “Thank you Chefette for continuing to support this school. You are helping us make a difference. We are taking small, but effective steps thanks to you”.
Advertising Manager of Chefette Restaurants Lisa Carter, in recognizing the importance of young people and the value of investing in their future, said “we are happy to give assistance to the students who desperately need help. We recognise the importance of assisting our youth in terms of their education and we are committed to doing all we can.”
