For over 46 years Chefette Restaurants has supported the Barbados Red Cross Society in providing over 2 million meals for persons who are less fortunate. This assistance is in the form of monthly donations of beef and potatoes given through its Meals on Wheels programme.

Recently, during a presentation at Chefette’s corporate office Winston Waithe, President of the society, expressed gratitude to Chefette as well as the general public and said "For many years Chefette Restaurants Ltd has been a significant Social Partner and Contributor to the Barbados Red Cross Society’s Meals-on-Wheels program. Our Meals-on-wheels program provides freshly cooked meals to approximately 150 vulnerable persons daily, Monday to Friday. These meals are served to the physically challenged, shut-in individuals, whether they are elderly, recuperating after a recent hospitalization or have a disability confining them to their bed or wheelchair.

The success and continuation of this program is largely dependent on the support and donations from community-spirited organizations such as Chefette Restaurants Ltd. Especially in these challenging economic times and as our region continues to face greater challenges such as hurricanes and earthquakes, more persons in our society become vulnerable and we as a community have to make a greater effort in alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable. It is at this time that such donations from Chefette receive greater appreciation.

Chefette’s Advertising Manager, Lisa Carter, said “Supporting the Barbados Red Cross was one of our first community outreach projects back in the early 1970s and we continue to cherish this partnership as we aim to improve the quality of lives in our island to those who are less fortunate.“

The Barbados Red Cross also receives financial assistance through Chefette’s donation box programme.
