The Barbados Red Cross Society (BRCS) welcomes the continued support from Chefette Restaurants, which has long been one of the National Society’s most valued social partners, who plays a major role in contributing to their Meals-on-Wheels program for over 47 years.
During a presentation at Chefette’s Corporate Office, Winston Waithe, President of the BRCS accepted the donation and said “The Meals-on-wheels program provides freshly cooked meals to approximately 150 persons daily (from Monday to Friday). We serve the needs of those who may be physically challenged, or unable to leave homes for various reasons - whether they are elderly, recuperating after a recent hospitalization or have a disability confining them to their bed or to a wheelchair.
The Barbados Red Cross Society recognises that the continued success of this program is largely dependent on the support and donations from community-spirited organizations such as Chefette. Over the past year, the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been significant. The BRCS has seen unprecedented demand on its’ services as large numbers of Barbadians struggle to overcome the impact of the economic fallout.
On behalf of the governing board, members, volunteers and staff of the Barbados Red Cross Society, I wish to sincerely thank the management and staff of Chefette for this generous donation and for the continued support that they have provided over the years.”
Lisa Carter, Chefette’s Advertising Manager said “Chefette is proud to partner with the Barbados Red Cross Society to provide critical items such as beef and potatoes that are needed for their daily supply of meals. We remain committed to this partnership over the years and especially at this time where charities are faced with additional demands due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
