St. Vincent de Paul Receives Donation from Chefette

Over the years, Chefette Restaurants and its valued customers have been providing financial assistance to several deserving local charities.  On this occasion, it is the turn of St. Vincent de Paul Society to benefit from the funds collected via Chefette’s Donation Box Programme.

On receiving the cheque, President of St. Vincent de Paul, Beverley Wharton expressed gratitude to Chefette and their customers, and said “The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international charitable organization attached to the Catholic Church in Barbados for over 120 years.  Over the past years, through donations from Chefette the organization has been able to assist some of our less fortunate youth through the HAPPY Programme  (Help a Poor Promising Youth).  Some of the funds from this year’s donation will see after the education of a less fortunate child, who is 7 years old and cannot read, as he needs assistance with identifying vowels and his pronunciation of words. He has been enrolled in a programme at the Dyslexic Centre but could not afford to attend classes on a regular basis.  With the funding he would be able to attend classes on a regular basis, hence enabling him with the basics he needs for reading.

On behalf of the SSVP, I would like to thank Chefette Restaurants Ltd., for its support to the less fortunate of our society and the organization throughout the years.  May God continue to bless your organization in its future endeavours.”

Advertising Manager, Lisa Carter said “our donation box programme has been raising funds to assist seven deserving charities since 2002. We sincerely thank our valued customers who continue to donate to this most worthy cause.  These charities that benefit are always out there in our community assisting the less fortunate.”

The Donation Box Programme involves placing boxes at each of Chefette’s 15 Restaurants and two Barbecue Barns, allowing patrons the opportunity to make monetary contributions.  The boxes are cleared every three months and the money together with additional funds made available by Chefette is donated to one of seven chosen charities.  The other six charities are The Barbados Red Cross Society, Youth With a Mission, Special Olympics, The Diabetes Association, Variety the Children’s Charity and the Salvation Army.
