Chefette Restaurants, the local restaurant chain on the island is once again demonstrating that it is committed to giving back to the Barbados Community.
The company is continuing its outreach program which aims to support community-based initiatives, as well as providing support for a number of local charities. Lisa Carter Advertising Manager, recently presented a cheque for $6,000 to Marita Greenidge, Chief Barker of Variety the Children’s Charity. Mrs Carter said “the funds came from proceeds collected through donation boxes located at all 15 restaurants.” She added that “she is grateful to the public for their contributions especially in these challenging economic times where everyone is affected in one way or another.” The company also contributed to the overall total.
Miss Greenidge, representative of Variety the Children’s Charity, received the funds and expressed gratitude and said, “This donation will be used to support The Swing Project in our Freedom for Kids Programme. We are currently raising $150,000 to bring two swings to the island. These swings will allow children in wheelchairs to experience the joy of swinging. Wheelchairs are rolled directly into the swings, which then allow for a full swing instead of just rocking back and forth. The activity is both therapeutic and fun. Our aim is to have the swings fully set up by May 2023. Thank you so much for helping us get one step closer to making this happen! Your contribution is sincerely appreciated!”
